I am not too impressed with the way CBC Radio Two has re-vamped their programming schedule. They were apparently playing too much classical and stuff, which I think is bunk, but the CBC has always been progressive. But what really set me off is when I read that my favorite jazz program was being yanked.
"The Final Show! Friday, March 16th, 2007 -
Fourteen years ago this June, After Hours began a new era of jazz on CBC radio 2. Well tonight is the final episode of the show. Tune in to hear two hours of reminiscing, favourite tunes and treasured moments, plus a thank you to all of the great listeners who have supported the show over the years. It's been a gas!"
I became aquainted with After Hours, through a fellow I met when I was taking astronomy at the UofS, when Ross Porter ruled the airways. And I remained faithful when Andy Sheppard took over. It soothed my soul from 10-midnight, every weeknight. And now all I have is junk on the CBC.
This is my epitaph to the loss of a wee bit of what made Canada so great. I mourn thee, After Hours.
