Warehouse Condos

I am torn about stuff like this, that is, I can't decide whether to like it or not. This is one of many warehouses in Regina that have been converted into a private condo development, which has become increasingly popular in many Canadian cities. I have seen photos of the inside, and they are very nice, and my initial reaction to them is approval. Yet, as I consider them further, not all the thoughts I have are happy ones.Likes:
- adaptive re-use of an existing building
- internal aesthetics are good for the most part, if your into the currently trendy warehouse-chic
- some of the external aesthetics, especially the retention of historic developments
- potential use of roof as a green-space (strong, flat roofs can handle the weight)

Dislikes:
- this one in particular is very plain and boring on the front - not exactly a homey facade to come home to (not that most people who live here likely ever go through the front door - parking garage to back door)
- the neighbourhood is a warehouse district - no parks or grocery stores or schools and the like nearby
- the price - too many condo developments are geared towards the affluent, leaving us "working-poor" folks to live in shit boxes because we can't afford to buy a house
- the price - click here for more info - but I found a listing for one of the suites in this building - 4800 sq.ft. for $675,000!I want to like the warehouse-chic, but I think I would struggle with the location and the price. I guess if I have to live in a condo-style place, I would prefer it to be downtown at least so I could walk to work, and the library, the YMCA, and perhaps a small grocery store.
