Mon pere commented the other day that he noticed, via this blog, my "interest in churches." I think I know why this is. But before I give my answer, I am going to be visiting yet another famous church in SK. Holy Trinity Anglican Church (lower left-hand corner of above pic) is at Stanley Mission, SK, which is a couple of hours north of LaRonge. I am going on a canoe trip with about 15 men from my church, of whom I know only a few. This church is the oldest in Western Canada, and a National Historic Site. Crystal and I visited it several years ago when we were camping up in that area.
I've created a few images of the canoe route we are being taken on. The pastor leading the trip grew up in this area, so hopefully he knows where he is going. I don't like the satellite images, because they make the water look dark and menacing. The images didn't turn out the clearest, but the approximate route is to depart from Four Portages Bay on Lac La Ronge (on the Stanley Mission road), then cross to Hale Lake, Iskwatican Lake, Nistowiak Lake (passing Nistowiak Falls along the way), then to Drope Lake, ending up at Stanley Mission. We start paddling Thursday morning, and end Sunday.
So, that whole "I am interested in churches thing" was just bait, and will have to wait until later.
